There has been a storm in a teacup over recent obvious revelations that Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton both share the same DUI charge, but Nicole has kept her license, while Paris had hers suspended, and is now going to jail for doing exactly the same thing Nicole gets to do everyday, driving
Never let it be said that the law is a fair institution, and never let it be said that agents of the law actually know what the hell it is. An agent of the Californian DMV was reported as saying īI have no idea why Nicole still has her license.ī
Well, hereīs why. Paris got caught drinking, whereas Nicole was off her face on Vicodin and pot. Being caught driving drunk leads to automatic license suspension, whereas popping pills and smoking herb gets you a slap on the wrist.
Themīs the breaks kids. If anything, this is a lesson in knowing your law before you break it. Mind you, Nicole isnīt set to cash in big time off a handy jail sentence like Paris is, so perhaps keeping her license is more of a curse than a blessing.
